I cannot believe the ignorance being spewed here. Bullfighting is NOT a sport, it's an art form!gustavo
why don't you comment on your own problems and your own country. we are tired , really tired of you guys. and actually quite glad you left the eu. we don't need your advice and we don't want it , you have worse problems in your country to care about itAllThingsNice
Those of you who are saying the matador deserved to die are just plain evil. Why judge Spanish culture just because it's different from yours? It's so wrong. Spain will get rid of bullfighting when they are sick of it.Stop resisting
RIP A young man of courage, sickened by the comments of those who neither understand or hold a perverse view that an animal life is more worthy than a human.igy plop
Yes it's a sick sport, but a human being died, some of the comments on here are sick!!!Sydneysider58Reply toigy plop
What magic characteristic do humans have that make them so very special in your eyes? Animals are another type of life, just a bit different.Plus, humans aren't terribly nice mammals when you consider their behaviour. And of course, we have far too many of them... FAR too many. If anything else, we'd have demanded a cull years ago.Sorry, but no. We are not all that terribly special, and cruelty to any living thing upsets me more as I get older. Killing for food, say, is understandable. But cruelty should play NO part.Miguel Angel 69
Out of Spain the real meaning of bullfighting is misunderstood. It is not a sport or a hobby, it is an art. I understand the stance of most of foreing people and even some spanish ones, but I disagree.Nobody in the world loves the bulls more than the bullfighters or bullfiting fans do. Furthermore, these bulls still exists thanks to the bullfight. Long live to bullfighing!jaywa85
I don't agree with it, but it's Spanish tradition.. If it was here and someone said you can't do that then everything would kick off! It's like saying I hope all leave voters suffer badly now we have left Europe, it doesn't make it right!Worn OutReply tojaywa85
What a stupid comment. Cruelty is cruelty wherever it is however it's described. Many 'traditions' were cruel in the past but this is the 21st century in what is supposed to be a first world country. FGM is still 'tradition' in some countries, is that OK too? A bull is a living, breathing creature and bullfighting is not acceptable anywhere.murtibing
Am I the only one to comment who has actually seen a bullfight? It is not barbaric, it is majestic. Man vs beast and sometimes the beast wins. That is the way it is supposed to be, genuine courage, overcoming fear, the display of masterful skill, and the real possibility of death. On the day this matador wasn't skilful enough, a gust of wind may have given the bull a 0.5% edge and the matadors leg was inches too close to the horn. That is all it takes. When living on the edge it is easy to fall. All credit to the brave souls who have the guts to take their life in their hands and live by their great skill. My condolences to his family.sat it as it isReply tomurtibing
As you said, 'the guts to take their life in their hands'. It was his choice to risk his life, does the bull get a say in whether or not it is paraded around in a public arena, teased and tormented, stabbed and slashed? Sadly there are still a minority of 'human beings' in the world who feel justified in inflicting unnecessary pain and suffering upon other living creatures, simply because they can. The minor fact that most of the animals so affected would, in a natural environment, run away, and would only choose to defend themselves if threatened or trapped.Chester6Reply tomurtibing
I am British and went to a bullfight when I was 8. I didn't want to go but was on holiday and a coach trip was going. It was hideous, cruel and barbaric. There was nothing majestic about it. The bull was bullied to death. I sobbed throughout the whole thing and prayed the matador would stop. Even at 8 in 1977 I knew this was wrong. I feel pity for the matador but maybe now you will all realise this is no sport!redjoeReply tomurtibing
No sorry to say I have been to a bullfight and its not what you say.First the bring in a number of men dressed as clowns who keep the bull moving so to run hafe the strength out off the bull this slows the bull down and then enter the ones on horse back with spears so buy the time the matador comes into the ring he has the easy task of finishing off the bull no great skill neededHermann-Walther
Sad. Only 29 years old, probably has kids and a wife. All you people celebrating are discusting to take the life of a bull over that of a human.Zeldahopper
I can't read any more of these comments. Just disturbing how many people care more about an animal then a human life.Bladerunner
You idiot people make me sick, a man loses his life and all you can do is cheer, Bullfighting is kill or be killed the bull knows this, but you spout off because you have never witnessed the beauty of the contest, done right it is a clean heroic death for the bull.FirstsisterReply toBladerunner
@ Bladerunner. It is not a clean death, it is a slow, agonizing death, with the bull fighting desperately for his life until he's too tired and weak to fight any longer. The death of this young man is tragic, but so is the death of the bull every time. Not a heroic sport at all and should be banned. The Faily Mail
Why all the hate for Bull Fighting? It's just a bit of fun. I'd understand if the bull was killed in this sport, but they aren't? They are just made to chase a man around. They probably enjoy it and it's good exercise for them.
