Sad this little one is missing out on a childhood because of superstition. Let her play outside and enjoy the beautiful sun and fresh air. It is not meant for a child to sit like a statue and have strangers come and gawk at her.

I'm all for respecting cultural traditions but these strange obsessions with young girls before puberty sickens me. The poor girls missing out on a normal childhood is tragic.

She'll have everything in the world--except a real childhood.

I was glad to see her standing on a cushion. I was worried about her physical development if she was not allowed to stand.

Voice as 'clear as a duck'? Like, a talking duck?! The only two I can name are Daffy and Donald. They're both completely inscrutable!

I have no issues with the belief system, we all do things that seem odd to outsiders.But I'm stuck on the "voice as clear as a duck," part. Do they have different kinds of ducks in Nepal? Our ducks have a raspy, nasal sound, and are one of the last members of the bird family whose voice I would call "clear."

I have the skin of an orange peel, the butt of a donkey, and the voice of a trash compactor...what does that make me?

That's nothing, my ex-wife's mother looked like an entire cow and had the voice of an old crow.
