Make him pay for all her destroyed buns? Oh, no... that's not NEARLY enough compensation for what he did.

You've clearly never been to China.

I've lived there, and the incident you describe would be considered a completely "normal" NON-incident.

Last time a friend of mines daughter was crossing the street in Santa Monica a speeding car came along and her husband dived to save her and got killed by a drunken driver. Understand you might want to take on someones attitude but you can't take on a 2 ton car.

The rich feel entitled to hijack and control our whole country, using the government as their personal piggy bank, using it to tax the rest of us and funnel the money to their big corrupt banks and corporations - you Faux News tards are really clueless...

More than likely the man was hired by the local chengguan (street police) to collect street hawker rent. Lady probably refused to pay and they trashed her products. She later was forced to make up a story so the local officials wouldn't get in trouble. These chengguan officials are now using plain clothes bullies to do their dirty work, in case their filmed and spread out on Weibo like a bad habit!

[ 0 ] [ 0 ]
michael tReply tomichael t

If that was the case, millions and millions of street vendors would be out of work. Please, we all know the legalities of the chengguan but we all have seen the realities of their brutality.

Sounds right. Thank God for the comments section. You certainly can't learn this stuff from the journalists reporting on it. Their articles are like 4th grade book reports.

BLM!... oh wait sorry wrong post, just have them pay for an entire days worth of buns and 50 hours of true community service... or better yet a week of standing in front of this woman's setup with a sandwich board encouraging passers-by to buy some.

I eat out a lot. Pretty much every other day. The # of times I have received the wrong order, or the correct order with the wrong ingredients or sides is astounding. Human error is a part of life and it is a shame some people can't grasp that. There were many ways to go about it, but these two chose the toddler tantrum route. What makes me the most upset about this is the fact it was a tiny woman. If the vendor was a big man, they most likely would of been too big of cowards to do what they did.

[ 0 ] [ 0 ]
MarcusReply toDanny

Not true at all. If you done at a #$%$ restaurant like Hong Kong Noodles yhey will intentionally change the ingredients for you especially from chicken to beef and vice versa or at Shuang Chen intentionally not season it ... yep not seasoning it to have flavor? Absolutely no flavor. Or how about spirting in your seafood Chow Fun at Shuang Chen or at stupid Peking Garden. Either way a few less #$%$ make no difference.

You can imagine how many Chinese poor suffered during 5000 years of Chinese "civilisation". If I have the authority I will hang them in public so that Chinese can change this bahaviour once and for all. Sickening!

Just another day in China.

Human

Good thing I was not there...I would have done something to stop that fool. It is not very common to see this type of behavior in China but probably more common than in the USA. Most of the Chinese stick to themselves they don't get into it with strangers. I have seen men yelling at women and pushing them in public and men yelling at waiters and servers, but not tearing up a poor woman's food stand. Last time in China I saw a man yelling at a woman I stopped and watched them ....if he hit her I was going to stop the man...my wife pulled me away. Most of the locals will not get involved.

[ 0 ] [ 0 ]
ChipReply toHuman

You must be joking. I've been living in Beijing for three years now and have witnessed a lot of boorish behavior by "wannabe toughs". Violence and vandalism are common.

[ 0 ] [ 0 ]
AbrahamReply toHuman

So why exactly is it a good thing that you weren't there? Is it better that there was nobody around to "stop the fool"?

I'm just saying, if you really would have put a stop to it, I would argue that it is a bad thing that you were not there.

[ 0 ] [ 0 ]
PcubReply toHuman

Oh I am sure you bringing your American perspective into that arena will go over real well. I saw a guy like you try to get involved in a domestic issue in Thailand. He stepped in and 7 bystanders commenced to kicking the #$%$ out of him. You go save the world brave soul but remember, what you see as intolerant behavior may be the norm...

[ 0 ] [ 0 ]
JohnReply toHuman

Unfortunately this is relatively normal behavior in the lower classes of China. They know there is little recourse from the government or police so they take things into their own hands. In addition, it would not be welcome for a foreigner to intervene. Probably not a good idea. Better to just walk away.

[ 0 ] [ 0 ]
AbrahamReply toHuman

I don't care where I am, I will never "just walk away" when a man is being abusive towards a woman. The only thing that evil needs in order to succeed is for men of good will to do nothing. These men are bullies, and 99% of the time when they are confronted by someone who isn't an easy mark, they will back down with their tail between their legs.

[ 0 ] [ 0 ]
ChipReply toHuman

John: Lower classes? Hah! That's not some poor soul I see driving his Mercedes or Benz when he pulls over and starts whaling on a pedestrian who had the gall to cross in the zebra crossing with the light in the pedestrian's favor. It's not low class vs. high class; rather, it's entitled "princling" vs. everyone else.

What dishonor.

A "I think I will shop somewhere else", would have been enough to show displeasure. But, this?

Mao would have had him executed for this. Or, at least a good working over by a couple of policemen (or better yet, police-WOMEN).

For this childish crime, he should be employed by this woman, and she can yell at him all day, about how worthless he is, and make sure that other vendors and customers can hear her criticizing his manhood.

[ 0 ] [ 0 ]
ChrisReply toRick

Mao encouraged this kind of behavior.

[ 0 ] [ 0 ]
GetBackontheShortBus!Reply toRick

"I think I'll shop somewhere else" has nothing to do with it. It was a drunken altercation that had nothing to do w/ the vendor.

Sadly this is the norm when it comes to China's one child system. These males(don't call them men) are spoiled since birth, were allowed by their parents to do whatever they want growing up. China has a extremely large single male population who are unemployed and living off their parents wealth, that most Chinese women find repulsive and immature. Chinese men have taken to importing brides from Korea, Russia, and Malaysia, because of a shortage of Chinese females.
