MY GOD..The pilot narrowly avoided another Tenerife( still the worst) disaster, He deserves all the praise all the money and all the medals..Not one soul onboard would deny him the world at this moment !!.

Well done. The reason this man was awarded was for his quick decision, no hesitation, no faffing. His split decision saved hundreds of life's and could have been very different. Now he can comfortably enjoy the rest of his life.

Wow, lightning fast reflexes! It's wonderful that he was able to avoid the collision and save lives. Also wonderful that the airline officially recognized and rewarded him for this.

Thank goodness, I still remember the KLM and PanAm tragedy in Tenerife 1977.

Credit where credit is due. A tribute to correct training.

That's pretty quick thinking. Well done. And nice bonus for doing so.

Not taking anything away from this guy, but he was already V1, so the only option available to him was up.

And to think all in the cabin wouldn't have a clue how close they came, bar for the feeling of the sudden increase in thrust.

Imagine the passengers looking out of the windows and seeing the other aircraft approach before pulling up just before their very eyes! Yikes!

Full throttles until the final moment, pull up and hope for the best. Lucky he had enough time to get a good run otherwise he wouldn't have been able to get off the ground.

Pull up hope for the best and no flap for short field take off! Next time comment on things within your competence!

Good for him and a well deserved reward and why not reward him with cash, the alternative is unthinkable.

The incident doesn't speak well about the abilities of the flight controllers in the airport tower.

Amazing he's up there with Captain "Sully" Sullenberger , who landed in the Hudson. These guys kept their cool and saved hundreds of live. The Daily Rag is normally full of doom and gloom, wonderful to read about a hero.

Well played sir! It goes to show that pilots are still well trained contrary to popular belief that on board computers run everything these days.
