Since global warming seems to cause everything and some things not related to weather I would not be surprised if some pointy eared scientist discovers that global warming is behind this.

Why would they? It is you that doesn't understand the science

Sorry Able but that's a real stretch trying to blame global warming for earthquakes. I am not a scientist but hardly think a few degree's warmer weather would cause major fault lines to move for that is due to the huge tectonic plates moving deep down in the earth

Yes, it IS a real stretch but that won't prevent "them" from blaming "global warming".

There are earthquakes every day and the Pacific rim is the place that suffers the majority no point in worrying about something you cant control.

Says someone in Guildford where they don't get them.

Your right we can't spend our lives worry about the next big one. I would much rather take my chances here, I live in L.A. area, than live in the Midwest and go through the terror of a tornado especially at night when they're hard to see.

Perhaps you should look over your shoulder. Your country has been invaded by a Seventh Century army. We'll take earthquakes.

It's gods way of being angry with what's going in the world at the moment. You annoy him and you reap the consequences.

With that kind of thinking then we would have to say God was angry with the US and allowed for the Twin Towers to collapse that's just plain nonsense blaming God for human and natural events. He takes enough abuse from the Scientist trying to claim He doesn't exist but please don't try to make Him into some sort of monster which He is not

Okay, Mrs. The-Earth-Is-Flat. Newsflash: God doesn't truck with earthquakes anymore. Not since what we like to call the functioning brain with reason set in.

Stop building on near the fault lines. Simple

Simpleton. close Japan, 100 miles along the Pacific coast of California, Mexico, central and South America. Close India. Half of the population of Earth can join you in the UK. OH! You are an idiot.

I've read a few commenters asking if global warming might be the cause of the recent earthquakes? I am not a scientist but don't need to be one to understand a degree or two of warmer weather will not make massive tectonic plates that lay hundreds of miles below the surface of the earth and in which the continents lye upon to move. They move after hundreds and even thousands an hundred of thousands of years of built up stress and the sun could park itself right next door to us and it wouldn't effect those plates at all. Its those plates and also the earthquake faults that causel the earth to move violently so please don't run around crying the sky is falling with silly references to global warming and earthquakes.

Maybe now is the time that California will finally break off the mainland. Now would be the best time since Coachella is going on. Just sayin'.

And with that in mind, I'd like to point out that the increased frequency of reptile sightings may herald the return of the dinosaur.
