How ignorant are Americans? They go to North Korea and may or may not do something that the North Koreans believe is against their law, the American ends up in prison for years. Don't very often read where citizens of other countries are sent to prison in North Korea, maybe because they don't go there. Ben Franklin said it best, "we are all born ignorant, it takes work to be stupid." This quote should be stamped on the forehead of every American who goes to North Korea.[CN]
Louis, while I agree with most of your comment I disagree with the notion that it happens more to Americans than to people from other countries.
I believe we don't hear much about people from other countries because most Americans don't care about people from other countries, therefore the news doesn't much report on people from other countries.
We do not hold a monopoly on ignorance, or religious zealots trying to spread their religion, other countries have their share of those populations as well.
Perhaps you are correct, but I would think that activist South Koreans temp fate as much as, or more than Americans, I think some people from almost all free countries feel they need to try to push freedom onto countries like North Korea. So even if we are the leaders, if analyzed by percentage of populations, we are probably not the leader by as much as you might think.
