THAT IS THE WAY TO TREAT YOUR EMPLOYEES and employees are what they are NOT indentured servants. During the years before retirement I treated my staff much the same way. Most of them staying till the day the business was bought out - and some even had the money they earned over the years to retire early. AND happy staff equals more than happy customers it means return customers. I am retired and living a comfortable life now not uber rich but I will never lack for anything or my family to go hungry

GOOD, but it is really not a big deal, in France EVERY employee no matter what trade he is in get 5 WEEKS vacation 4 in the summer and one between Xmas and New Year,
we are so far from it here

Okay...

That's what I'm saying. This is unremarkable, but to the average American, it's mind-blowing. Personally, I believe that 3 weeks vacation should be the minimum. I think Americans have it mixed up, and they believe that you have to work yourself to death to consider yourself a 'good' worker. What's the point if you're slowly killing yourself. You can be productive with breaks.

American's work longer hours and lose their vacation days because companies have cut staffing to the bare minimun! my husband has 6 weeks of vacation time and can't use it all, as he is on deadline every month. His staff has been cut and cut and cut. He works at night and weekend mornings. He finally just took a week off, just becaue he was exhuasted and still had to do some work every morning. Yet these CEO's are living the high life and showing more profit than ever becaue they cut half of the staff!!!! We need some serious changes in this country!!!!

great company!!! It's amazing that a country that is mainly a "consumer" nation as opposed to the "producing" nation it was decades ago is a "workaholic nation". It's sad that people are spending on average 10hrs+ a day at the office-speaking of what I've observed here in NYC-mind you, they're not doing life-saving, important work of doctors, nurses, police, firemen, or teachers. Within these same companies, when you take your accrued time off-they look at you as though you should not; then wonder why they're turnover rate is so high. This company sound great and if you're interested they have offices in NYC, Boston, Detroit, etc, check them out:http://www.centro.net/about-us

The average German worker (unemployment rate is lower there too) makes about 50% more than his American counterpart with on average four weeks paid vacation and 13 paid holidays. Good picture though. It proves you're a bird brain.

Not true at all. My wife and entire family are German. Unemployment and underemployment are very high compared to the U.S. There are restrictions to getting a second job and advancing. Even prohibited from working on Sunday's. While healthcare isn't bad compared to other countries in Europe, it's far behind US standards.

Ok, what's so special about the "sabattical"? My company offers 21 days total for the day, 15 of which are paid vacation. Granted, they do have more time than me, but it still sounds like paid vacation time.

News flash people, you are paying for these benefits. The company passes on those costs to you the consumer.

After 10 years 3 weeks is not uncommon, so big deal? I own my own company, but when I left, the company I had worked for was giving me 4 weeks vacation, paid medical and life insurance for myself and my family. Guess what, they are non union and needed neither to do this, Keep people out of businesses way and demand will dictate what goes on.

The charges to clients for this level of employee benefit, is where the money comes from. As long as clients are paying the premiums required to cover this cost, all OK--but with a caution. Some clients may start to wonder if they are paying too much margin for media and creative. Ad agencies that "live large" can black flag themselves with the companies they service....and lose those accounts. Have seen it happen.

I'm trying to find a company who will give me 6 months off paid and the other six months I only have to work 3 days for 4 hours per day. Can anyone assist me? :)

Are you sure this is an American Company? Most American companies expect their employees to work til they drop at the lowest wage possible.

Otherwise known as vacation pay - let's not get overly excited about this

Profit sharing? Is this above and beyond their normal vacation days off? Good deal !

Reward plans like this one are more common than you may think. Especially within small businesses and family owned/operated companies. The first employee who advanced to become Office Manager after several years, started "from scratch." After her first year, she told me we were too busy growing, for her to take her one week vacation. I had her pick up ticketsfromt my travel agent and she noticed they had her name on them. Yes, I made her take paid vacation AND I gave her and her fiancee a fully paid trip to Mexico.! She worked for me for more than 25 years. Since then, I have been generous with trips, including cruises, Disney World, Cabcun, and many domestic locations (Grand Canyon, New York, San Francisco, New Orleans, etc.).as bonuses outside vacation, or maybe, additional with paid vacation. That doesn't include local rewards for shows, concerts, performances, outings, theater, dinners, special transportation, gasoline fill ups, collectible coins, deep sea fishing, special events (New Year, July 4th, etc.) and spontaneous trivia quizes in-office with Two Dollar Bill rewards. Keep it interesting and fun!! And motivate staff to be connected to the World. One of the last rewards, a year before I sold my business which had grown to 31 states operating from one office, was a Honeymoon Trip for a week in Maui, Hawaii, for the couple; from being chauffeured in my 1960 claqssic Mercedes-Benz to the airport until return... all included! Was it all worth it? I enjoyed giving the surprises as much as they did getting them. It was not structured to set goals or times, so everything was always a surprise.

I use to see that kinda of benefit when my dad worked at Ford Motor Company Transmission Plant In Sharonville,Ohio in the 70's and 80's, but that was when I was a kid and when Companies cared about their workers and you could work a 8 hour work day and make a living.
The country is not fixed folks and this B.S. stock market is all smoke and mirrors from borrowed and stolen money.
The days of good labor and manufacturing jobs will never be back and you can thank all those free trade agreements with slave labor countries for our manufacturing downfall which basically points to corrupt U.S. leaders and other countries.

Research suggests that time off can boost performance, as it staves off burnout and enhances physical and mental health.

This reminds me of the "Much-Ballyhoooed" guy who decided to pay ALL his employees $70k a year. He is renting is house out, just to make ends meet.

Basically, the rich and greedy ceos get all the money while we poor slave workers barely scrape by on little pay!! makes a lot of fkn' sense doesn't it!! Whatta bunch of dopes!!

Funny how these articles fail to mention that these lucky people are working for a company that can name their price on their products and regardless of how high it gets people buy. I remember when I got my Journeyman Certificate Miller Brewery was paying more money than any other company in the city. No one else could compete with them, why, because no matter the cost people will drink their beer.
