Here is a stunning statistic - there are more tigers in Texas than there are left in the wild. Keeping tigers as pets and declawing them is cruel and leading to the extinction of tigers in the wild. It does not have anything to do with conservation. Why is Texas so popular - because they have weak laws regarding wild and endangered animals. Needing a permit is not the same as needing zoo certification to hold these animals. Tigers are not big kitty cats - they are not a consumables, to be enjoyed as babies and then discarded when they get too big. A 10 x10 foot cage is not the same as having a 10x10 km range. Tigers for Tigers.[CN]

Your nonsense is just that, nonsense. The reason Texas is so "popular" is because there is plenty of room for the dozens of sanctuaries in the state. There are more than 40 wildlife and big cat sanctuaries in Texas with active breeding programs. Many of these also have reintroduction programs so the tigers can be reintroduced into the wild. There are almost no tigers being kept as pets by anyone other than Mexican drug cartel members who have them as status symbols and they are illegal to own as pets in virtually every city in Texas, including Houston. That's why the owner of this tiger hasn't come forward to claim what is obviously an extremely expensive pet, they have committed a felony and face years in prison for having her.[CN]

Completely Average, there are an estimated 2000 tigers being kept as backyard pets in Texas from what I have read. This tiger has been claimed. Story is that it had been evacuated from a cat rescue due to the flooding and given temporarily to someone who was not equipped to care of it properly and it escaped. No telling if that story will hold up though.[CN]

The owners couldn't take him to hotel so asked friend to care for him for a couple days. The cat escaped while under friends watch.

why on earth do they let them keep tigers as pets, looks like if you have enough money you can do as you please.

Bearkat0501Reply toMustafa Leak
The police are looking for the owner because it is illegal to have a tiger as a pet. No one LET them have the tiger and this has nothing to do with how rich someone is.

Having the tiger declawed is horrible. Poor thing. DM needs to get their headlines straight though, it wasn't a pedestrian that saw the tiger. The family was in their car and the driver got out to investigate what the mysterious creature was.

Tigers are not pets!... I hope it goes back to a game reserve who will prepare and adapt it so it can go back into the wild where it belongs! Why is this allowed???....

There are more pet tigers in Texas than there are wild tigers left on earth. Their animal control laws are a joke.

Not a typo, not by a long shot. O and A are a long way from each other. This is a fail by the DM, they should realise that hitting F7 only checks the spelling and not necessarily the grammar...

They are usually domestically bred, but they are often bought by those for whom a massive, uncontrollable (due to lack of training & socialization) dog is just not enough.

I live in Conroe, TX. It's not a suburb of Houston. LOL We are an independent cit 40 miles north of Houston.
[ 0 ] [ 0 ]
Completely AverageReply tofirebyrd
You're still a suburb. All suburbs are independent cities, and many are dozens of miles away. What makes you a suburb is the fact that it's uninterrupted city between you and Houston and most of your working population commute to Houston for their jobs.

firebyrdReply tofirebyrd
And you, kind sir, missed the point.
[ 0 ] [ 0 ]
Lmaris LmarislmarisReply tofirebyrd
If by "independent" you mean you have a separate city government, then you are "independent", just like Katy, Spring Valley, or other suburban communities surrounding Houston. It is connected by near constant development along I-45 and would be nothing but another backwater community without Houston's proximity.
[ 0 ] [ 0 ]
Lmaris LmarislmarisReply tofirebyrd
No, you sir missed the point. Merriam-Webster's definition includes the following: "b : a smaller community adjacent to or within commuting distance of a city". Conroe meets this definition and IS a suburb of Houston. Without Houston's proximity, Conroe would be just another Jasper.
