very slickly made advertisement. sad that most of the readers do not realize a lot of the stuff in DM are paid advertisementsMillyad7Reply toOdd Tom
They do realise you patronising idiot, the look on the girls face is genuine and it maybe a corporate machine....but truly ask yourself, what have you implemented to make someone's life who's not as advantaged as the majority easier or more welcoming, thought so.... Well done Disney.amysez2u
Glad the lil girl had a moment , BUT it is the actions of the folks that has me sick, THEY are both deaf, knew it was genetic and paired up for reproduction guaranteeing deaf children, and in the one child who is not... right in the face of the one who can not hear.... resentment?...Sad.KatReply toamysez2u
1. The fact that one child can hear proves that deafness was not 'guaranteed'; 2. Deafness is not a horrible life sentence; clearly the family is loving and the girls are well cared for; 3. It's NONE of your business anyway, and 4. Maybe you'll follow your own advice and don't procreate? We could do with less negativity in the world.Dakotajoe
Great story, but the dad saying :it made her proud of her language" is ridiculous.Catnip22Reply toDakotajoe
You're kidding right? Oh please say you're kidding. Sign language is huge part of Deaf culture for a number of reasons! Most importantly because for the better part of history they were not allowed to sign, it was looked down upon and even banned. It's a beautiful language that every culturally (and even some non-cultural) Deaf person is extremely proud of! And you are ignorant.CopaceticReply toDakotajoe
Dakotajoe, you do realize that Sign Language is an actual LANGUAGE, right? No, you probably don't. Try to imagine what it's like to be a bright little kid bubbling over with joy who wants to interact & communicate with those around her, but has already realized that very few will understand her. Maybe mull that over. It could help heal your compassion deficit.Aeriths resurection
No wonder you lot are called sheep. It's an advertisement, and you fell for it. Read a few books, learn to use your brain. Mugs.AnonReply toAeriths resurection
@Aeriths resurection So what if it's an advertisement? Not everyone is taken in by them for a start, or can afford to go to Disneyland even if they are. But what if it inspires people to start learning ASL (or BSL in the UK's case) because they can see how wonderful it can be for both hearing and dDeaf to be together instead of separated? One of my best friends uses BSL and I've learned for her - she's thrilled. Why don't you learn to sign and do some good instead of being so cynical about something that gave a child some happiness even if it was a corporate idea?James2288Reply toAeriths resurection
Been there and done that and can confirm that Disney Do a lot for disabled and sick kids. We spent a week at Give Kids the World, a resort in Florida which is sponsored by local businesses of which Disney was a founder partner. The week included accommodation, day tickets to Sea World and Universal Studio, 3 days at Disney world, a local taxi company sponsors all transport etc etc. GKTW hosts 100 families all year round and is fully sponsored by Florida based businesses. My son still talks about his holiday 15 years later and guess what ...... there was NO pressure whatsoever to support the sponsors or take part in any sort of advertising.Maureen Florida USA
I love Disney, but this story is just a very thinly veiled ad for DISNEY. I guess we know who got free tickets to Orlando this summer...Joeslaterthrma4
This concerns me. she appears to be suffering a childhood disorder such as Autism or d.o.w.n.s.y.n.d.r.o.m.eArmando T.Reply toJoeslaterthrma4
My 65 year-old sister has down syndrome. Most of the happiest days of her life have been spent at Disneyland. On several occasions, many of the Disney characters would go out of their way to give their full of attention to my sister. They are truly special people, the folks who put on the Disney outfits.
