There is one religion growing very rapidly in this country, strange it's not mentioned in the report.

you would offend them ; even as they storm the gates of parliament the lefties will be defending their rights to trample our culture and laws

Perhaps because it isn't? According to this report, other religions account for some 7%. So are our supposed christian superstitions about other religions just poppycock?

Turning your back on the faith that is intertwined with your culture has allowed other elements to creep in which will ultimately go on to be the ruin of the country.

I am not going to pretend to believe in the Christian myth just to be patriotic, rather I would suggest we discourage the 'other elements' from wielding political power through their religion by having a secular state.

"Love you neighbour as yourself" Mark12:31...very few remember the most important commandment of all...

Good verse and that is a very important commandment. Jesus said that "the" most important commandment was tot" love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind" (Luke 10:27.)

Religion has been part of the human condition for so long, but now we are in new territory as we step away from it. Beyond its spiritual dimension, Christianity has been a social glue, a means of reinforcing tribal identity. The judgementalism of the past was based on a failure to embrace Christianity in the right spirit and it reflected human weakness, not an inadequacy of Christianity. Nonetheless less our society tried to build on the best of Christianity as it was perceived at any given time. Now we take watered down Christian tenets, previously observed semi-voluntarily as a moral code, and enshrine them in modern laws - Political Correctness. People don't believe in PC overtly, but we are obliged to be law-abiding. So instead of attempting to follow a moral code voluntarily in the right spirit, the law tells us how to think instead. This is because we don't know how to behave anymore and we no longer know what the right spirit is.

Annoyance with idiots like you is rapidly becoming a religion. Do us all a favour, wind your pathetic, childlike ignorance in and go boil your head.

Yes there is Max. Say it. What is the biggest religion? And back it up with some evidence.

Most people I know are not religious or church-goers but still abide by the Christian values that made this country what it has been.

Nonsense. This is about religion, not christianity. And christianity has no monopoly on values.

And yet those who hold religious office are still given many platforms on the publics done to put forward their views. It's quite outrageous. Bishops in the Lords, religious spots on radio and TV really need to go. If they crave a public platform they need to pay for the privilege, and surely the end to charitable status for all religious based organisations has come? They can make the same contribution without the religious baggage.

And some of our taxes go to the church too........ Despite that, they still pass around the tray for MORE money at services.

If true, it's not by chance that younger people are not going to be following Christianity. Neither will it be by choice in many cases. This is due to successive waves of governments allowing or encouraging the lack of education within a Christian environment. Very sad. However, I know many who have faith who don't go to church or make a visible show of their belief, so I think there are more Christians than show up in polls.

Not just younger people - I'm a pensioner brought up as a Christian by my parents but I have no time for any religions - the cause of so many problems.

Considering that only 1% of the prison polulation in England and Wales identlfy as atheist in a country where most people are not religious (acccording to the last census) I can see that it is a step forward for us to own our own morality and to take full personal responsibility for our actions instead of blaming the devil.

Its the same in most developed countries, the deists are the least law abiding. Weak minds, weak morals.

It's not just religion that is putting Britons into the minority. The amber light has just moved into the red for the future of Britain in all aspects.

How does that make sense? Are you trying to say that to be British you have to be a Christian? Sorry to burst your bubble, Sally, but this isn't a theocracy. PS I have to tell you, being the MAJORITY in my own country feels GREAT!
