This is stupid, exaggerated propaganda. The weakest part of this is having a pilot. I'd be much quicker and effective just to launch a missile. It's not like you need accuracy with nuclear bombs. It's just to get you all pumped up and to get everyone to willingly pour money into the defence industrial complex, moving spending away from things like sanitary pads for the disabled, nursery care for children and homes for low paid workers.

Sorry, but a takeoff mass of just 25 tonnes is simply too small to take this thing into space. Just calculate the fuel loads required, and see for yourself. For instance, to take a similar payload into space, the Saturn 5 weighed 3,000 tonnes. See the difference? The is CGI engineering at its best, and will never fly.

Britain design of a similar engine makes its own fuel as it flies by super cooling oxygen thus saving weight of carrying liquid fuel. Read the full article before commenting muppett

[it is air breathing - muuppet]. The similar Lapat or Skylon spacecraft was projected to have a takeoff weight of 250 tonnes, using the air-breathing engine technology to save a great deal of weight. But the Russian equivalent cannot be using air-breathing technology as the fuel is said to be kerosene. The air-breathing cycle needs the low temperatures of hydrogen, to power the heat exchangers, which this Russian equivalent does not have. In which case, the Russian spacecraft would have to weigh more than 500 tonnes, and the muuppet is yourself.

That doesn't look stealthy at all

A hypersonic aircraft can't be stealthy. At supersonic speed, the shockwave reflects radar, and at hypersonic speed, the aircraft is surrounded by a glowing plasma sheath that emits radio waves.

No worries about the stealth capabilities...... Just look for the exhaust trails in the first picture..... lol

Fantastic innovation.... Pity once it's delivered its nuclear, and of course western stated will have retaliated there won't be a base to return too! In fact there will be nothing to return too!

Sad fact is it will not be designed to return . Don't worry though, its only a figment created by a computer programme . Would never get airborne .

There wouldn't be a base to return to.

Expect more articles like this in the run up to the Trident vote. Fear equals profit to some people.

It's not the Russians we need to worry about, it is the Yanks, and going by the number of wars they start, they care for their children only as much as for cannon fodder, anything for American Democracy in Iraq, Syria, Libya etc etc etc.

Looks lik the Russian version of the Aurora, the supposed successor to the Lockheed Skunk Work's SR71 Blackbird, and favourite of conspiracy theorists and Area 51 watchers...

How is it the DM knows all this secret 'stuff'? Why would people want to hear it as it clearly can't be that secret can it?

Rather pointless, why go to outer space to launch missile when it is easier to launch a missile here on earth.

If your picture of PAK-DA is for real, it's not particularly stealthy. It's got curved edges, exposed jets, vertical edges. It does look good, though.

Why didn't they instead create a passenger jet which can get to anywhere on earth in 2 hours?

I build one of them out of paper when im bored,i think they must of stolen my blueprints for paper plane version 163223,not sure about flying it hypersonic as mine barely makes it across the living room.

Nuclear powers must have spent zillions on nuclear weapons. Spend it on true democracy and civlisation instead. Spend it on the improvement of societies the world over. Would it be that hard?
