Apparently not, A.N. Presumably on the basis that they are to the North of it....separated by the land mass of Europe. Whereas Russia does. To the extent to date of the Crimea, naval bases in Cyprus and building a third in Syria. With close access to the Suez Canal and the supply of European oil and gas coming in from the Middle East to boot. No problemo tho...they are our friends.Malcolm RitchieReply toA.N
The Russians have four to date. One in the Crimea, two in Cyprus and one in Syria. The fact that the Netherlands is part of NATO is of course by the by. The presumption of this logic is that no marine elements from countries who don't have a "base" in the Mediterranean should be allowed into the Med. Care to name the UK's bases in the Med?Sullen
I like the Dutch, my best friends wife is Dutch. They're a lively people, a lovely and humorous people. But...the notion of the EU relying on Dutch submarines in the Mediterranean, monitoring Russian vessels that specialise in...submarine detection. Well, that worries me just a jot. The Dutch are delightful, but I would not send a Dutch submarine to a knife fight.bankofdad
So.........they haven't spotted the American subs..........................good................cheersJohn3270LegolandReply tobankofdad
bank. They never spotted the British ones either. Probably because it costs too much to put them to sea. Gotta keep priorities in the UK, like spending taxpayers money to keep our unelected house of lards undoing the democratic will of the British voters.
