Mr Putin, be very careful; Holland is a huge world power! Can't stop laughing! A Dutch sub!!

Huh, you may not be laughing for long if Putin's provocation keeps growing.

I bet they could hear it coming? NATO moans that Russia conducts air exercises in International Air Space and close to their borders. What is NATO doing carrying out back to back exercises on Russia's borders? Strange, how NATO nations would not let the fleet re-fuel or re-supply and yet they want to be invited to cruise with them? I wonder where the Russian submarines, escorting the fleet were? No doubt laughing at what the Netherlands could supply.

This very class of sub has managed to destroy entire carrier battle groups in simulated exercises in the 90s and ''recently'' in 2004. In 2014 it destroyed Astutes on several occasions in a 1vs1 simulated battle in 2014. To only ''allegedly'' be spotted once now, decades in the high seas, speaks to it's capabilities so near retirement and replacement.

The southernmost corner of Netherlands is actually referred to as `little Switzerland' and in winter it is possible to ski there, so maybe Trump is a bit better informed than LVAD. That would hardly surprise.

The same country that sold the plans to Australia for their 4 submarines years ago that are so noisy and such a failure and billions wasted, they can be heard in America when they go to sea. That is why the Russians know where they are LOL. NATO is trying to cause another war in the EU and the last time Germany did even with they so called state of the art technology they where beaten into submission by the Russians for trying to take over Russia, and Stalingrad comes to mind?

penelolope, there is no such country as 'Holland'. Holland is a REGION of the Netherlands. Calling the Netherlands 'Holland' would be like them calling Britain 'East Anglia', or calling France 'Normandy'. Despite your mistake I shall cast no aspersions on your own voting preferences...

Dutch causing trouble again. Trump needs to reign in NATO when he takes office, they are just antagonising Russia for the sake of it.

What's wrong with a Dutch submarine being 12 miles away from a Russian ship while in the Mediterranean. It's not like either are exactly in their own national waters.

When dealing with weapons of war, its common courtesy not to point them at each other. Following that close is akin to pointing a loaded weapon at each other.

Russia is invited to give Syria a hand and the US and allies have no invite or authority to be there. ISIS or whatever they call themselves, also operate in East Aleppo, but possibly under a different name. Can never keep up.

We don't have many subs but we do have 4 subs of the Walrus class, built in the 1990's and in service until at least 2025. Your comment is wrong on both counts.

This headline is very dangerous and actually fabricated, based on the quoted statement below: "These clumsy attempts to carry out dangerous manoeuvres in the immediate proximity of a group of Russian vessels could have had grave navigational consequences,' it continued" - so why leave out the words 'COULD HAVE HAD grave NAVIGATIONAL consequences.' Just to stir up trouble! Shame DM!
