So there is a place in China that employed 50,000 people, and the employees can work overtime. Nowhere in the article did the reporter say the overtime was forced. Instead the opposite was true. People were warned when they got close to the limit of overtime. I don't understand the problem. Sounds like a good company to work for. Are there other benefits? The guy that his family claimed died after working 12 hours a day needs to re-assess. There are people in the US and elsewhere who work 12 hours daily. Sounds like he may have had some sort of unknown medical problem.MalcolmRitchieReply toChuck A
"Other benefits"?.....other than what? Average wages are in the region of some $60....a month. So what other "benefits" did you have in mind? Doubtless you believe that this anti-capitalist, anti-progress, lying article also forgot to illustrate the state of the art hospital, state of the art school for children and the chauffeur driven service provided to all employees in their efforts to progress the cause of socialism yah da yah da yah da.Fearless Gooner
Trump will bring these jobs back from China once he wins the general election by lowering corporal taxes that keep the big companies away from the US. TRUMP 2016!!!MalcolmRitchieReply toFearless Gooner
You don't seriously believe that the price of an i-Phone is based on production costs do you. The last calculations made on that score showed that the overall costs to produce one was less than around $6. And that included transport to market. This is called "maximisation of profits" AKA - shifting as much into shareholders dividends and - more importantly - CEO and Directors "bonuses" and "compensation"Grumpy.
None of them looks happy in their work but you have to admit that some good discipline like this would not go amiss in our factories (and schools). Standards and attitudes in this country are often abysmal and the examples set by politicians, celebrities and football players leave a lot to be desired..BritVic
Another good reason to be at the back of the queue when trading with the yanks.Glasgow Loyal
The DM are trying so very hard to make a story out of this......I see people with jobs in a clean factory manufacturing cutting edge technology. Whats the angle? That they line up for a roll call!? That their salaries are lower than the UK? There is no scandal here. There is no story behind a story. Pointless article from a newspaper that is rapidly losing credibility. At least I know that I am in the right place for hourly updates on the Kardashians.ouchagain
Coming to the UK soon if you vote DC into power again , except Robots will be doing the work - why are I phones so expensive ?MalcolmRitchieReply toouchagain
I-phones are expensive because pretentious tw.ats here in the West fell for the hype and manage to screw their own employees and others into the ground in order to divvy up for them. Most recent calculations for an i-phone showed their costs amounted to some $6. But then those in the "West" and the Empire of Blessed Memory have been doing pretty much the same for centuries now.slubgodrewab
I am so glad I will not be around when this mob control the world, and they have infested every continent. I feel for our future generations, however.
