The picture is from one of the Scilly Isles which is permanently in the tropical jet stream. All isles are different. Lovely and quiet with no cars.

Actually they say the climate is subtropical - not tropical. Sydney also has a subtropical climate but I'd say we enjoy far warmer temps than Cornwall.

Last summer and this summer in the UK a total miserable disaster and then we get the climate change begging bowl when we should be spending on UK business and job creation.

But do they have fast broadband and 4G?

I'm on Fibre Optic Broadband to the Premises (FTTP) running at 80mps way above the UK average. If I pay more I can get 300mps at the click of my fingers. Cornwall is now leading the way on Fibre Optic broadband in Britain.

Cornwall or Cancun hmmm........

Big difference between the two, Cancun has a tropical climate because it's in the tropics, in order to be sub-tropical it must be outside of the tropics.

Which parts of Vietnam? I was in Da Nang earlier this year and the heat and humidity were at levels incomparable to anything that can be experienced in Cornwall, short of standing in a centrally heated greenhouse with all the doors and windows closed on the hottest, cloudless day imaginable.

Met a Mexican chap in St Ives last July and he had at least a couple of layers of clothing on - he wore a wooly hat he had bought from a pound shop to replace his normally worn sombrero. Lovely man. So I think this article is dubious.

I remember going to Abbotsbury subtropical gardens 30 years ago and it had a microclimate that allowed subtropical plants to grow then.

Great climate in the South West we even have bananas growing on the tree in the garden.

Rick Stein is probably planning a banana plantation.

Not really, moors and heaths exist the world over where soils are poor and the land is deforested and overgrazed.

Possibly I may have to move there if we can get past tonight's end of the world thingy as reported in the DM and for which I am currently getting ready for with some pre "bracing for disaster" exercises....I wouldn't want to pull a hammy.

I live in Devon and not far from here there is an agave growing in someone's garden.

Did it really take a report from Exeter university to confirm this, again. Beaches in Cornwall have been known as the English Riveraire for decades, but of course they also get much more rain.

Oh this is what it is about..."Report author Dr Ilya Maclean said: 'I guess this shows that with a weakening pound and worldwide instability you don't need to go abroad for a subtropical holiday, you can just go to Cornwall instead"...

It is probably more expensive to holiday in Cornwall!
