the same situation exist in every major city in the world, not sure what his pictures are trying to say, perhaps he would do better in Beirut or somewhere like that.

Not only are these photos of poor quality but they say nothing. My 10 year old niece has a better eye for photography. Why was this stupid article even published on DM. These pics could be from any state or country anywhere in the world. What is her point? Knowledge is gained from life experience not just spending student loans to look worldly and important.

Yet another liberal loser who walks in, sees rubble and assumes it's from an earthquake. I suppose he thinks Florida's heat and humidity are caused by global warming.

In any rich country you will get the poor. It is the same in the UK. The richer the rich get the poorer the poor get. One reason people are getting so disillusioned with big business running our governments.

I have lived in many areas that are really very nice, and yet you go 10 miles the other way and you end up in areas just like the pictures above. It is not just Florida, it is all over America. And frankly, the people that live in those run down areas actually chose to live where they live. I know it sounds strange, but if you tried to take them out, they would resist.

"He described repeatedly coming across cars, machines, even homes that were long past working order." It looks like he missed out the human side on that as well.

The part of our state of Florida that the real estate brokers don't want the snowbirds to see.. Travel & tourism is our Governors only concern not the full time residents where many live like this..

America should be investing in having all these places economically livable, instead they waste millions on other countries and nonsense. We shouldn't have so much wastage in a super power country .. some places always looking like the slums

Florida's a southern state bordering Georgia and Alabama - what did she expect?

There is always another side to a story no matter where you are in the world. There will always be the rich and the poor

I love Florida. Have been many times and yes off the beaten track it's not shiney make believe Main Street but that doesn't detract from it at all. It's the most quirky, friendly, interesting and beautiful place. I only wish I could spend more time there.

ts interesting how many places across the US that you see this. Their political system in complete deadlock for decades is killing their country as no big decisions can be made for most of the time and anything that does get through is massively watered down. Its such a shame for such a beautiful country to have its power and success rotting away and the wasted talents of millions of its brightest citizens squandered. The spiralling debt is a warning to us all

First there are no earthquakes in Florida, Hurricanes or perhaps falling earth. Next there are many areas of Florida without tourists and heavily in poverty.

Drive 10 miles inland from any of Florida's coast areas and you'll see images like this. Remember...it's the US South.

Clean up your own city Billyjoe before you criticize others. You live in the arm pit of the USA.
