Photos and video of the little lost boy quickly went viral after being taken on Wednesday night, people horrified at what is unfolding each day in full view of the world.
The ABC reported that Omran suffered head wounds when his home in the rebel-held eastern suburbs of Aleppo was hit in an airstrike.
Volunteers from Syria's Civil Defence group - known as the White Helmets - rescued the five-year-old along with three other children.
They were taken to the M10 hospital and Omran has since been discharged. Doctors do not know where the child's parents are.
Thousands of people have reacted to the images online since they were released on Wednesday night, expressing their heartbreak over the boy's plight.

Seriously?! That's it?! Sometimes when you are left with nothing what is there to live for? Where did the compassion go from this world? Just because the boy is Syrian does not make him evil. What he experiences and is taught will make him evil. Can't you see that is all some of these children have ever known? How are they to know any different unless compassionate people are willing to provide a safe secure place to learn this? I don't mean bring them all here. Why can't a safe place be established and secured in their home country? Some very selfish comments here. "Not here in my country, not put myself out for the sake of making others a bit more secure and safe". Don't get me wrong I don't want refugees and immigrants taking over but something needs to be done in their home country to make it safe.
