So neither ofbthem went down with some horrible infection. People of old dies in their scores from birthing infections, so very few do now days for very good reasons. Hygiene and antibiotic!!!

No wonder the kid looks blue, it must have been cold in that water. A bit risky but all's well that ends well.

What an idiot, she was VERY lucky that the child with a ridiculous name was born safely.

Holy crp. There was no way I was giving up on the gas and air during my labours. I just don't get - if medicine has given the solution of pain relief, why not use it. So glad it worked out for her - it could have turned out so badly.

Lucky we have such things as anti biotics, infant mortality is not to be trifled with

Its all hippy dippy I'm-at-one-with-nature nonsense until the point the baby gets into difficulties and dies or is left permanently disabled. Look forward to the years of care and explaining to your child that you caused all this because you wanted to sit in a polluted stream. Of course, you might not be able to do this if you die yourself from massive bleeding that couldn't be stopped in a muddy pond.

She's lucky not have infected herself or her baby. We boil creek water before drinking it for a reason.

So countless millions of dollars are spent on a health care system to make child birth safe for mother and baby.Not a doctor or midwife in sight, so if there were serious complications who would be the first people to contact?I bet there was a 'cell phone' at hand.

Beautiful thing a child being born. However in a river really ! The chances of infection to mother and baby is extremely high. What if something had gone wrong like the cord wrapped around Babys neck. Perhaps the baby could have needed assistance in breathing , so !any things could have gone wrong . Can't say it wouldn't it happens everyday where child or mother dies to a complication of delivery. Taking silly risks could have had catastrophic ending but thankfully it didn't this time ! Personally could never take that risk but it's up to the mother after all.

Err, okay! Glad it worked out for you and your baby. Sadly some women aren't so lucky and need urgent intervention to make sure neither they nor the baby dies.

Modern day mothers are all "me me me". I bet she couldn't wait to post about it on Facebook.

I hope this doesn't persuade expecting mothers to copy her or think less of themselves for not doing the same. She isn't better than you for being more natural or medication free. Frankly the risks of complications are high in all births, she was lucky. Modern medical intervention is the main reason mortality has dropped so low in the last century.
