A Boeing 777 plane suddenly got into the zone of strong turbulence before starting to descend

Where were their seat belts doing? People are careless.

Horrifying experience for the passengers involved in such a midair carnage. I reminisce a flight with Quantasleaving from Singapore heading for Sydney quite some years ago, we were encountered with severe air turbulances certainly not as bad as it was right here, the aircraft a B 747 got buffetted through thoroughly, fortunatelywe had our seatbelts fastened on our entire flight as we were advised by the crew well before the turbulance got started

Those pictures look like normal service on United Airlines.

Whether this is grossly exaggerated or not, the plane landed safely. I would image that is the most important thing

Glad you've taken the 'broken spines' bit out of the headline, since it was just an uneducated guess by someone taking pics.

Modern cars bip relentlessly until the seat belts has been put on. Besides, despite the horror its nice to know that modern planes can actually withstand such rough treatment without breaking in half or the wings breaking off.

If you look carefully at the photograph you can work out who wasn't wearing a seatbelt. Perhaps DM could start an new competition similar to one with the snow leopards. I usually leave mine on for the smug reason that I stay in my seat for the entire journey unless I am in an aisle seat in which case I am up and down like yo-yo.

Am very lucky I have flown a lot and have never experienced turbulence like this, as I can honestly say if I did I would be reluctant to set foot on a plane ever again

Why does the headline take speculation by one passenger and report it as fact?

Why is it that people that take vides for the purpose of uploading to you tube etc. can't take decent videos?

There should be an emergency seat belt or similar device in the bathroom as well. Can you imagine being in the bathroom and when severe turbulence strikes! There is nothing to hold onto.

We were coming into Heathrow when our landing was suddenly aborted. Our pilot told us as we were circling that a Russian plane had ignored air traffic control and came into land without permission.
