Horrifying experience for the passengers involved in such a midair carnage. I reminisce a flight with Quantasleaving from Singapore heading for Sydney quite some years ago, we were encountered with severe air turbulances certainly not as bad as it was right here, the aircraft a B 747 got buffetted through thoroughly, fortunatelywe had our seatbelts fastened on our entire flight as we were advised by the crew well before the turbulance got startedSteve0001
If you look carefully at the photograph you can work out who wasn't wearing a seatbelt. Perhaps DM could start an new competition similar to one with the snow leopards. I usually leave mine on for the smug reason that I stay in my seat for the entire journey unless I am in an aisle seat in which case I am up and down like yo-yo.Toi Toi
'broken SPINES' - Nothing like sensationalising potentially serious injuries, is there, DM?Desert85
There should be an emergency seat belt or similar device in the bathroom as well. Can you imagine being in the bathroom and when severe turbulence strikes! There is nothing to hold onto.Cambridgegirl
We were coming into Heathrow when our landing was suddenly aborted. Our pilot told us as we were circling that a Russian plane had ignored air traffic control and came into land without permission.
