I can't believe that the crew didn't have prior warning of this turbulence. Usually its reported by pilots en route. Also why weren't people wearing seat belts as a matter of course? Very bad management by the airline and the crew.Thomas
The pilot didn't warn them to all wear seat belts? Are there actually special belts for babies? I always have my belt on while sitting. This is unbelivableMeReply toThomas
On BA they have baby belts but those are actually banned by other airlines.. because while they stop a baby flying round the cabin during turbulence (ie to protect other passengers), they're incredibly dangerous for the child. Even with toddlers who sit in their own seat - the belt is not properly designed - it can kill. Young children should be secured in a car seat, always!jeff
The joy of being a rebel is not putting your seat belt on when you are told to do so.Being a rebel can however result in broken bones etc. They are all Russians and will all be totally smashed out on vodka and wont have even noticed their wounds yet.Fluffy_Slippers
How did the pilots not forewarn the passengers of upcoming turbulence and to be seated with their belts fastened?! Everyone is saying have your belt fastened but on a long haul flight I get up and walk around and stand up to stretch my legs! Id place this in the hands of the pilots!Paul_Xavier_GreenReply toFluffy_Slippers
Contrary to popular belief, turbulence does not send it's atmospheric itinerary to the pilots of the plane flying towards it. Turbulence is mostly invisible and won't show up on the radar. In rare instances, other aircraft that have encountered it can warn others approaching the vicinity, allowing the crew to warn their passengers, but it is otherwise often encountered without warning.FriendlyTxn46
This illustrates the reason American pilots may act like autocrats toward passengers who don't follow the rules. Pilots live in fear of such a horror happening on one of their flights. That's why doctor Dao should never be allowed to fly again for sneaking back onto the United plane after being ejected the first time. That's when he was very properly dragged off like the crazy person he must be. I'm so fed up with idiotic, entitled-thinking passengers. Air flights are inherently dangerous! The crew are responsible for our safety. I will remember this video the next time I fly, and thank God for American pilots and airline companies who are so strict.RikShaw
Those poor passengers. This is dreadful. Surely the Captain should have advised them to stay in their seats & secure their seat belts. would have been better to have had their sealbelts on & be seated.Ellipsis . . .
'Apparently those who were injured didn't have their seat belts fastened'... Says it all really - think you're above the rules, you pay the price...jimboReply toEllipsis . . .
I always keep my belt on when seated but on a long flight one is invariably out of one's seat at some stage, if only to avoid DVT and toilet visits. A very harsh comment. The main point is that folks going about their normal business were hurt. You remind me of ther spoof news report in the fim " Airplane"- they got on board so it was their own fault.ap007
The crew should've ensured all passengers safety belts were fastened, but then this is aeroflop.surreygirl
Aeroflot. You would not catch me on one of their planes. Why were the passengers walking around when they had hid such bad turbulence. They should have been told to sit down and put on their seat belts. HOw can people be that stupid and an airline so careless.
