A Boeing 777 plane suddenly got into the zone of strong turbulence before starting to descend

The pilot would have put the seat belt sign illuminated. There stupid faults if they failed to obey the warning.

This is the reason why you should never carry a baby on your lap during a flight. Always pay for an extra seat and bring your car seat.

Sounds nasty - but always keep your seatbelt on all the time during any flight !!

I'm Flying to Bangkok tomorrow seatbelt will be on unless going to the toilet... there's nothing worse on a flight seeing them stupid people wondering round when the seatbelt sign is on they deserve it

Experienced this domestically once in a Boeing 757 on an early morning flight from Philly to Minneapolis over Cleveland, not a cloud in the sky cruising at 41,000 feet...fortunately every one was buckled in due to pre-turbulence but many people had their breakfast trays and coffee flipped onto the floor or onto them. Clear skies do not automatically mean stable air by any means. Fortunately, the event happened on a Boeing product...had it been Airbus, the plane could have broken up midair.

What ever happened to ppl Buying a seat for their babies ?? Twenty years ago when I traveled with my then infant daughter we always bought her a seat and buckled her into her travel car seat between us. No matter how expensive it was, we knew that was safer than just holding her through a flight. I don't think I've seen that since about 15 years ago. More expensive? Yes, but during severe turbulence a mom's arms are not a seatbelt. These days, unless strapped to their moms in a baby sling, NO babies are belted in.

It might help reminding oneself before flying: Take-offs are optional. Landings (one way or the other) are compulsory.

I obey airplane signs too. I always fasten my seat belt stop smoking when the light comes on.

When didn't they have their seat belts on OK. if you need the loo obviously you unstrap .By turbulence lights should have been on !!!!!

Babies fly free on your lap? It isn't worth it! Buy a ticket and use a safety seat, or stay home.

Often wish for a bit of ceiling bouncing turbulence when there's some ch.avs and ch.avettes onboard spending the entire flight standing in aisles drinking or queuing for the toilet.

Pilot should have seen it coming and put on seatbelt signs....

People are just plain STUPID to not wear the seat belt loosely at all times!!!!!!!

Good to know that the Boeing 777 goes through severe turbulence with no problems except for passengers without seat belts. Maybe an Ilyushin wouldn't have done so well.
