even with turbulence people should not have thrown like that the only thing I can think of is that people must not have been in their seats and they must not have had their seat belts on either

Agree that your belt should be fitted at all times. Having said that, the Bay of Bengal is notorious for violent thunderstorms at all times. Sitting on or near the wings helps mitigate the worst movement.

Bad weather turbulence is easily picked up on radar and can be avoided. This scenario was most probably caused by clear air turbulence which is non detectable by the aircraft and unpredictable of its whereabouts. The only possibility of a warning is if another aircraft has previously passed through it. However the Aeroflot pilot should have been aware of the present changeable weather in the Thailand area beforehand and instructed the passengers to buckle up well in advance to the approach. I hope all the injured come out ok.

As Murray Head would say, one flight to Bangkok made a whole plane tumble... glad that nothing worse happened.

Everyone had a broken spine! Yet could walk off the plane. Sounds legit.

Absolute nightmare

Seatbelts are there for a reason.

A well known hazard of flying. It's sad that people get injured.

It sounds like the worst possible timing. 40 minutes left after a long flight, so everybody was probably up stretching their legs and using the restroom. I don't think this was the fault of the pilots or airline, it's just one of those things that happens, fortunately rarely.

Them pictures of the cabin could be any student accommodation.

The next big story will be a brawl during clear air turbulence while staff are slapping passengers and taking baby strollers away.

Nice to see that the majority of travellers had the good sense to keep their belts fastened. I suppose the ones who didn't will be seeking compo from the airline because the fasten seat belt sign was not on.
