I am surprised it is politically acceptable to report that average height varies by country. To suggest there is a variance of average intelligence by country could cost you your Nobel prize. So why is height acceptable but intelligence not?

I have a feeling that the influx of millions of people from Mexico and Central America has had an effect on the stagnation of height in the US. Guatemalans are often under 5ft. In 1914, Americans were among the tallest in the world because, compared to other countries at the time, we had a very good diet full of protein from meat. After WWII, many countries have advanced in this way and caught up to us, even surpassing us. I think average white male American height is 5'11" today. Not far off the top.

Immigration has significantly reduced the rate of height increase in the US. The average hisp anic male in the US is only 5 foot 7 inches. With nearly 20% of the US population being hisp anic, they definitely drag the average down.

But when conscription was introduced during WW1,..was it not the case that many, many men were too small and puny for army service. Not caused by being bombed, but by being malnourished and deprived their whole lives in the wealthy United Kingdom.

Think the perfect height for a man is 5'10 to 6'0 as men too tall are often skinny with a stoop & think being fit healthy & not being obese is far more important than just height !!
