How tall is YOUR country? Men from the Netherlands top the table at just under 6ft while women from Guatemala stand at 4'10

I'm 6"8 and being tall is good and all but it has it limit where you wish you was not that tall.

Nutrition has a lot to do with how talk someone is. During the depression people were starving. Would hazard to guess that the rich are taller than the common man. Grand-father 5' 9", me (female) 5' 10", son 6'6".

Too many people fret about their height. Who cares if you are taller than your man? As long as he loves you and cares for you it matters not. I'm 5'8 and married to a man of 5'5. I wear heels when I like and no-one's ever commented, probably because I'm confident with him. And I'm way taller than my mother, too, so people are getting taller. My kids are well over 6' too, apart from my 5'7" daughter.

In the particular part of East Anglia I originate from, most men must be pushing 5 feet 11 inches or more. I'm 6 feet 1 inches, and a significant proportion of the younger generation of males living there are taller than me.

I am 6 foot 2,more than 200 lbs,a typical Dinarid south Slav,just like parts of Croatia,Bosnia and Serbia.The world is a funny place,just across the Adriatic sea Sicilians and southern Italians are not particularly tall,on average.Even though there are some Norman descendants who could be taller than average.

No Germany on the list, come on.

I'm not surprised. I'm Latvian and 5'8 or around 175 cm which is pretty tall but when I had to line up in PE lessons with the other 20 girls I was always in the middle.

I guess they used data for 18yos because that was the age used in the 1914 study, but wouldn't 21 (or even 25) be a more appropriate age? A lot of teenagers, particularly boys, won't have reached their maximum height at the age of 18.

My great grandfather was born in 1870 and he was 6ft 6" and my great grandmother , his wife, was 5ft.He must have been classed as giant in the 1890's.We are all of Viking, Lofoten ancestry

The height is directly proportional to the health and well-being of the nation. Look how the US was prosperous and well fed, lone before we caught up. And look how Holland, which is hugely prosperous if you go there, now has the tallest people.

The good size is when your feet are well in touch with the ground...

i have six brothers and our heights range from 5'8" to 6' 01/2". I have always felt like the midget in the family despite being the eldest.

Dutch men is in average 183 cm tall, and women 175 cm.

I don't believe that men in the UK are 5ft 9 only an inch behind Czechs. It's almost impossible to buy a mountain bike for anyone over 6ft (22" seat tube). According to the shoppers there are not tall enough men in here to sell them. The same story is with clothes. Jeans with 38" waist and some longer sleeves are mostly sold in 3XL+ shops.
