Man jailed for months over $5 theft found dead in cell
so many retards out there today... making comments that are off the wall. yeah, family should sue and get a huge payday. It's called the Constitution idiots. until anyone of you understands the rights ALL have STFU
A THIEF is a HIEF is a THIEF! Where were these concerned family members when his ass was stealing or in jail? How much could bail have been?
I know you are jaded, but for every BS story about a Trayvon Martin or Michael Brown, there is a legitimate story where some young black man was wronged. Why deny him bail on a $5 theft? Why put him in jail for almost five months for a $5 theft??? His debt to society should have been paid after one day! And if he was stealing food because he was hungry, then in a matter of hours! I'm guessing he refused to eat or take his meds because he was protesting the injustice of his treatment. His crime did not warrant that amount of time. There is no way in HELL it warranted five months in jail!
The thing is, this same thing happens to white and Hispanic people all the time. I mean ALL the time! Does it happen to blacks more than whites? I wouldn't be surprised to hear that it does. But this is more a condemnation of the system than anything else. Where was his lawyer in all of this???
The very fact that he was denied bail on a $5 theft warrants a criminal investigation into the entire case. The Judge that denied the bail might need to be removed from the Bench.
I need more info..... Did he have a past criminal record??? Why is it that families always want to show that they care when the damage is done??? Where were they when he was growing up.. Teach children values. Teach them to reject the thug life. Listen to them when they are small so that they will share with you when they are older. Pay attention to who they hang with.. Take the time to be the parent in their lives.. If your child didn't matter to you when he or she was learning to make bad decisions, why is it everyone elses problem when things end like this?? I'm not heartless nor racist.. Just tired of a society that will not accept responsibility for their actions.. and sick of the media that will only report the effect without calling out those that are to blame for the cause..
He was a theif wearing a tobogan in the middle of summer. Regardelss of his color, had he not been theiving, he would not have gone to jail.
The blacks will be arrested too. Breaking the law is the same for blacks as anyone else.
Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.
If this had been a white boy, the blacks would have been saying the same thing, If you can't do the time, don't do the crime.
It is no one elses fault but this black boy!
AOL / HP just pushing the democratically biased race war agenda.
Does anyone think we have the whole story here?
Does anyone think bail was denied because of a first time $5.00 theft.
Has to be a lot more to this bail denial.
TOO SAD THAT MOST OF YOU ON THIS THREAD HAVE SO MUCH HATE IN YOUR HEARTS. CRIMINALS, MENTALLY ILL, LOW CLASS PEOPLE, AND ETC. COME IN ALL SHAPES, SIZES, AND COLORS. JUDGE NOT!!!
I too am upset to see the comments here. I am WHITE and I totally agree with you! I've seen this happen to whites and blacks alike. Here we have a young boy who lost his life in jail when he needed medical help and people want to point fingers at the parents? How do any of you know what his parents have or have not done? Also, do you know anyone with mental illness, and if you do I seriously hope and pray that you never do, because it is a very painful thing to deal with and mental illness effects people of every color and every economic background. Mentally ill people need compassion and help, which few here seem to have? My heart goes out to this family and every other family (white or black) who has experienced something like this. Sad, very sad!
You have a point.
I don't believe more than half the posters have ever personally dealt with a family member who had a severe case of Mental Illness.
It is a nightmare to deal with, and even those who have plenty of personal resources, medical contacts and stellar insurance, are finding it nearly impossible to get these people the long term care, that many of them need.
