So far, the only "evidence" cited by the US government are some obscure social media posts and a recording posted on YouTube. Doesn't really stand up as evidence in the real world, doest it?ComfortablynumbReply toJustin_17
Its a lot more and a lot stronger than that Justin. This is why Russia, after months of muddying the waters was forced to agree that it was a BUK missile, but then started to say it was the Ukrainian army, even though the evidence to date points to the Russian backed separatists.TheOverthinker
It was shot down by a Ukranian Air to Air missile - there is an excellent website that explains why it could not have been a BUK. As to who and why - I'll leave that to investigators to determine, but the KLWCC has gone awfully quiet after the loss of two of their countries aircraft in under a year.Figaro13
to Pepe999It's possible but it's not the only opportunity. First, to use a system like Buk you need a group of well-trained soldiers. Did the rebels had such a team? I doubt it. And if it were Russian's army officers - they would be able to differ an army jet from the civil one.Second - where was a trace? The scy was clear and yet no trace of the missile shot. And, finally, the onle\y side have got an advantage from that tragedy - the USA...robert
This would not surprise me Ukraine is a violent barbaric country which should never be allowed join the EU. Russia should take back control of the whole country.PappaSmurfer
About time you Yanks caught a colour r e v o l u t I o n. After all your leaders like to export that sort of thing.Backspin
As I suspected., the Ukranians determined to kick off a conflict so that they can eventually get on the EU gravy train.n8935f
Yet more speculation, the true events to this incident are a cover up and always will beTheRealFullEnglish
I have thought the Dutch investigators had already proved from holes in wreckage and missile fragments that it was hit by a surface to air BUK missile and not a smaller air to air missile.b70822
It has already become a long story and will be lasting very long till Ukraine is supported by US, UK, NATO with money, military equipment, military instructors, aggressive and mostly baseless accusations - I want to say we understand it'll never stop soon. We are ready to live in these conditions while our diplomats are trying to change the state of things - it's their job. If the West is ready to listen to, to talk, to dispute with arguments - welcome. If not - up to you. The Netherlands said they didn't need our explanations and experience results and help regarding MH370 while I think every detail is of imoprtance.b70822Reply tob70822
grunpy old: I would say Ukraine is "given" the "veto" right by its Western "friends" who back it and act against Russia, it's clear. Russia sincerely and professionally did much to contribute the investigation but was ignored. Russia is one of the most interested parties to learn the truth. We here understand that was not Russia who downed the plane, but I'm curious to watch the BBC film.scott9425
The junta wont like this story along with their partners the CIA they will have to think up some more anti-russian story`s also with the EU/ britainDr Mills
Putins plane sped through the area 45 minute before apparently according to rumours. Make what you will. Dont know what the truth is. Same with MH370, what is the truth behind that disappearance.CMSTReply toDr Mills
I still think MH370 was shot down by some country, maybe their own, when it diverted off it's route. Basing on the eyewitness reports, & some of the early leaked military reports. I also think it happened over the western Bay area, & no where near Australia. Just my opinion of course. But it would explain the mystery. Whichever country was responsible, is not willing to publicly own up to it. And it not coming out by now, makes Malaysia the most likely culprit. Or a lot of money was paid to them to bury it.Nicolas14
Surprised this is a BBC report. Like the EU they prefer to believe Putin is the root of all evil.VonHammer
You can look up pictures of MH17, though according to some experts believe are bullet holes in the various panels recovered from the crash site... I would have thought the Dutch invetigation team would have picked up on this? Yet they point towards a BUK? even though witnesses state they saw a fighter jet leaving the area where MH17 came down?AMReply toVonHammer
The BUK, they could not even identify and completely ignored all evidence from the BUK manufacturers. Ukraine had BUKs and reported that none were missing and then you had the video footage of where the BUK was meant to have come from . Yet the Dutch Investigation Team, did not bother with the forensic report on the shrapnel fragments from the entry and exit holes, which would have provided the DNA of the BUK. I wonder why they ignored such strong evidence and why Ukraine demanded everything had to be kept classified? Why is the BBC coming out with it now? Is it because the German Relatives, who are suing Ukraine, have some evidence which will ask questions with regards the deleted BBC Video?
