Tips to get rid of telemarketers from former phone marketer
I act very nice and interested in what they are offering. "cool cool, yea, yea". Then when they are cozy, I ask for the name of the company. Right after getting the name of the company I tell them to NEVER call me again. I remind them I have the name of their company. they say it may take X time to take you off the list. I tell them I do not care and if they call me again, action will be taken. I have NEVER received a second phone call from any company.
These helpful "hints" do not work. I have tried them all and have been on the National Do Not Call Registry for over 4 years. Its the foreign telemarketers that ignore the law the most. One continued harassing us for 3 months until I cussed them out and threatened them with the law. Now I have another one that keeps calling after telling them 4 times to take us off their calling list.
After three years of telemarketers I found they reside in Florida or Washington. I then had my calls forwarded to my cousin in CA where he is a Sheriff. She went along with the one man and then told him she was a Sheriff (named county) and he didn't believe her and said "it is against the law to pretend to be a law officer." She then said....we are now tracing your call. He hung up. That particular telemarketer has not called back. But there will always be other ones to follow.
It's so easy to get them to stop - when you answer and hear that dead pause as their system searches for someone who answered, reach down and pick up your coach/rape whistle - when they come on the line and begin their prewritten sale start saying "hello - hello" and when they respond hello - blow the whistle in the phone then ask "can you hear me now? You know there wearing a headset and have nowhere to go...
The Do Not Call List does nothing to keep the calls away. The one type of call the truly pisses me off are the ROBO calls. The one where you get a recorded message and have to wait through the whole thing before you can get to someone to take you off their list.
I don't know why, but these ROBO call divices should be outlawed in every state. But of course that would also mean your politicians would have to abandon them too.
Up to now my biggest beef has been with Verizon and sales calls for their additional services. When I pay them a premium for unlisted/ unpublished phone numbers and ask why they are calling me, the sales person first say, "were the phone company !" Big ( F ) deal, I reply, and tell them; I have a contract with the company and it applies to all intrusions; unwanted , unsolicited calls and paid for that privilege and they are in violation of that contract ! I haven't heard from them in several years and this was the second time in about 10 years it occurred. Next time I will sue them for the now $6.- $7. dollars a month they have charged me many, many months, all the way back to July 1974.....
the do not call list is the way they get your number.i had one telemarker telling me i won a trip to anywhere.i counter by saying i was at the airport and what gate .i should go to to get my ticket.they had no clue how to reply.DO NOT LISTEN TO PEOPLE THAT TELL YOU TO USE THE DO NOT CALL LIST BECAUSE THAT IS how telemarkers get your number
I thought FOX News was the bastion of ignorance and stupidity. I stand corrected, it's right here! Apparently the author does not know about "DO NOT CALL" lists. Google "DO NOT CALL" and go to the federal government sites, it's run by the FTC Federal Trade Commision. See, I just gave you more factual information than the jackwad that came up with this article and the jackwad that supervised them.
The "National Do Not Call List" seemed effective at first, but as time has gone on, phone solicitors are ignoring it. I've got an unlisted and unpublished number, yet I still average 4 to 5 unwanted calls per day. I've resorted to permanently leaving the phone ringer "off" and letting everything go to the answering machine. I also bought a "Digitone Call Blocker" that has helped somewhat. It's no wonder so many people are ditching their land-lines. The land-line telephone has changed from a convenience to a nuisance.
