It should be against the law for these telemarketers to even call a persons house. How do they even a person's number? Well I do know how, but why is that even allowed. They call & call and never give up and sometimes you can't even understand the person because they don't speak English well at all. I am on the do not call list and it does not stop them, so usually I just say i'm not interested and hang up and I do tell them to stop calling. Y=They always try to shove what ever they are selling down your throat.Worse they call very early and even on the week ends.

Will have to say the posters here have provided my laughs for the day. If this adds to the conversation: I had a friend receive a call from a storm window company. She went into a long discussion of how she wished that they had called the day before. She had just picked up her drycleaning and since it was around Christmas, all of the drycleaning bags had "those pretty little poin-set-iers on them, you know" and she had just finish using them to cover her windows for the winter.

I've had all of my phones on the "Do Not Call" list since it's inception and still get calls everyday. Another government progam that does not work.

I answer "Penissio's Pizza Parlor, Engorgio speaking, today's special is a big long hot sausage with 2 meat balls, can I take your order?"
They usually stutter around than say wrong number or something like that.

I interrupt them and tell them that I do not mean to be rude, I know they are only trying to do their job, but I am not interested, and to remove me from their list immediately. It works.

I really do not believe you. Whether I have been nice or rude, I still get unwanted calls from some pharmacy. Each time they say they will put our number on their "do not call" list but the calls keep coming.

Telemarketers in our area are illegally tapping into and using local numbers, to make it appear on Caller ID as if it were a local call from a neighbor. Two days ago, I even received a telemarketer call from my own name and number!

The other day our LANDLINE phone rang, the ID was showing our LANDLINE phone number and OUR name...

fun for me I go

Simple and easy. I never answer the phone, when I'm home, without listening to the answering machine first to hear who's calling.

The "Do not call list," does not work. This is the same misinformation you always get on the Huffington Post.

I usually tell the person calling that their mother must have mated with a farm animal to produce such a stupid offspring. And if they do not like what I just said then transfer me to their supervisor or remove me from the call list. I know I will not be removed in most cases but at least I upset the caller as much as they have upset me.

The national do not call list does not work. Contacting the FCC does not work for calls or text messages. Telling the caller you are on the National do not call list only gets a dial tone and a return call 2 days later. Credit card companies are the worst. The Government doesn't help with any of this. How can you actually believe all this crap about the NDNCL or Attorney General or FCC working???

I am on the National Do Not Call list and the number of unsolicited calls is increasing.

I think she has good advice. Answer the phone and do not engage. In addition, tell them you are on the Do Not Call List and are going to file a report.

Hate to break it to you but I have ZERO obligation to be polite to someone who calls my house without permission, especially since I am on the do not call list and they call anyway. Calling my house is an invasion of my space. If you don't like that, too bad.

I have had a rash of calls telling me my computer is sending WINDOWS ERROR MESSAGES, they know my computer's brand too.
THEY CAN FIX THE PROBLEM REMOTELY TOO. -- BET THEY NEED A CHARGE CARD NUMBER, WHAT SAY?

Also getting calls about my car's service agreement has expired.

I sure hope you recognize both of these as scams. I have received the same call and have told them that I do not have a computer and they hang up.

I've gotten a number of those too, concerning Windows Error Messages. I can barely understand the broken English. I tell them I WILL NOT give anyone I do not know personnel information about myself...or my computer...much less give my permission to do anything on it "remotely". They even try to argue with that...and is when I hang up AFTER pushing all the keypad numbers.

PS...I've found that works too. When you find out it's a solicitor...hit all the numbers and pound key to make it seem like there's something wrong with their connection....then disconnect.

It's hard to tell them to remove my number from their call list when they hang up on me midway through the statement. Now I ask them questions like: 'Do you feel good about what your do?' There's a pause then they hang up....

I was told that if it is someone "you" have dealt with in the past 3 or 6 mths (can't remember the time) they can call. If you called your credit card company for some reason etc. I do everything online..look for questions, e-mail them, and I don't get those calls. I also have re-submitted the 3 numbers I want off, a couple of times, and I guess it works, haven't had a call in years! Hope this helps someone/

Years ago when I had a telemarketing job, I was reading the pitch & the man kept saying "You're talking too fast! Slow down!" So after several such requests I ... read ... the ... pitch ... very ... slowly ... word ... for ... word ... and when I got to the end, the guy said "I'm not interested!" and hung up on me. Tho I was P-O'd at the time, I must admit that the old guy surely had the kewlest way to deal with the annoyance of telemarketers. ☺

The do not call registry did not work. I was told it's good for six months and then you must renew. When I tried to renew I got a "Due to the volume of calls your call cannot be completed. Please call back." I called my phone company, AT&T, and was told that telemarketers "have ways" to circumvent the registry. AT&T said the company can stop unwanted callers from getting through. That was two days ago and I am STILL getting 1-800 calls or telemarketers using a local area or a New York area code!!!

let me get your phone number to call them back
then the old fauthful of just cissong them up one side and down the other
is always an option
i tell them i pay for this phone and i can cuss anyone who calls it
i really hate telemarketers
