I am so sick of this....I get a call once or twice every day or so that is this:"000-000-0000. It comes up like that on my ID...I have been registered with the "no call" for so long and yet I am annoyed all day long. Anyone have any ideas...guess nothing we can do.

WE HAVE A FRIEND THAT WILL KEEP THEM ON THE PHONE AS LONG AS POSSIBLE, HE STAYS CALM, ASKING THE CALLER ALL SORTS OF QUESTIONS, HE IS A HOOT!

All calls go to voice mail... Period.
Robo callers bump off eventually. Sincere callers leave a message and a number. I have a large caller I.D. display and if there is a recognisable NAME and number I just might pick up.

Ha! Elson's and Huff Post's recommendations are, well, that brown and lumpy stuff you find in a cattle pasture. If they worked I'd never get another call...they don't work.

The do not call list is not working that well.. I tell them I don't deal with Tella Marketers ever . you are wasting your time.. IT seems to be working for me...they stopped calling.

Okay here is a tip for you Elison. The Do not call list doesn't work. If you say no three times or ten times you are put on another list and sold to another telemarketing company. Now you get 10 times more calls. Where I live the phone has become an object of harrassment.

I got caller ID and I keep my ringer shut. When my ID flashes and its someone I know I pick up. Disconnected my message.
Now they can call all day and I do not get a headache.

What do you do with the calls that your caller ID lists with 000-000-0000 as the phone number or (0) as the phone number? What about the ones where when you answer and say "hello" two or three times and they just hang up? Also, there are the ones that when you call back the number, you get a message that the number is not a working number? There also are the ones that you ask over and over again to be put on their "do not call" list, but they keep calling. It all gets very frustrating.

I put all my phone numbers on the National DO NOT Call list but it does not stop the telemarketers

"So how can you win this battle? Apparently all you have to do is say "no" three times, which lets the seller know you're not into it."

Saying no a couple of times seems to work lately for some reason. Whatever happened to the Don't Call Lists? And get Caller ID and just do not pick up the call at all if you do not recognize them. I hang it up even before it can make it to the answering machine.

Block the call. Dial *60 listen to the recording. No more calls from that number

If I can use *69 to find out who called me, why can I not use a code to report violations of the Do Not Call List? The telephone industry does not want us to be able to easily report! It is infuriating how often the callers plead ignorance. I report them but the process is VERY cumbersome.

There used to be a "no call" limit after business hours...but the loophole soon became "from THEIR time zone"...which means I get calls as late as 9:30 pm.

I'd swear they have a video camera hidden in my house somewhere...knowing I don't have a cell phone in my pocket. HOW do they always know when I just sat down on the toilet...just stepped out the door to walk the dog, or am leaving to run an errand...just sat down to eat...just soaped up in the shower...just laid down for a nap...I.e....they NEVER call when I'm sitting down doing nothing...which would still be annoying.

I solved my problem. I no longer answer the phone. I let the machine pick up. They can call all they want.

Even though we are on the no call list, they still call. They hang up when I ask for details as to who they are so I can report them. We use the answering machine to screen our calls, but it's still annoying to hear the ringer and delete the messages. If I answer a call by mistake I refuse to be "polite" to a telemarketer who is rude to call in the first place. I am especially incensed when they use my name!

""This is Rachel (or sometimes Ann) with card services blah blah blah."
**********************
To this poster (below): The "card services" call source has had a few class-action lawsuits filed against them to cease and desist. They are the worst and based in another country which makes it difficult to get rid of them. I have been getting those for at least 5 years now.

BOGUS this is a fill space article...I've done everything suggested, and more (giving them the buzz in there ear LOL)...it tells you absolutely nothing about people who break the do not call list rules. It's the fault of profit seeking phone companies that fail in the customer service area that protects our privacy charging us people who don't wont to be bothered with anyone but who we give our number, to pay for the privacy that comes with an unlisted number...they're full of crap...if you pay for something that can effect your mood, time and flow with an interrupting noise (ring) you should have the power to say I don't want to be bothered. You would think it cost more to have your number listed???? The Joy of Capitalism ruins the quality of life once again.

I answer and as soon as they start talking, I act like a crazy person and make strange noises and stuff. It doesn't take too long before THEY hang up, never to be heard from again.

That works for me also.

The do not call list is worthless for the spoofing callers. I get called sometimes 3 times a day from Card Services. I report it as a complaint to the DNC goverement website everytime and nothing is done to have them stop.

The National Do Not Call List is evaded by companies outside the country and out of their jurisdiction, and by domestic companies who know that the average person isn't going to press charges. I have been on the list since it originated, but the telephone parasite calls get more frequent all the time. I also bought a device that prevents incoming calls from ringing the phone, and plays a recorded message warning them off, before advising legitimate callers to leave a message on the answering machine. Finally, I block the numbers of repeat offenders (though they periodically change them). Still the calls come -- happily, they get nothing from me but wasted time. Parenthetically, to the parasites: Never mind the "I'm just trying to make a living" justification -- just go back to frying hamburgers.

Nice advice, but the DO NOT CALL LIST is totally useless -- completely ineffective.
