Tips to get rid of telemarketers from former phone marketer
The no call list doesnt work any more and now here come the political ones. My dad passed 5 years ago and they call and ask for him. Makes me so sad. I know a neighbor they do that to and she tells them hes out at the cemetary and not taking calls. No matter what they are so bothersome
Half of the calls we get are "our" fault. You know when we fill out those cards at malls, restaurants, whatever to win a car, get free crap, we without knowingly put our phone number on those items. Also, for banks, credit cards companies, online ordering, read the very fine print that tells you to OPT OUT of them providing/sharing your info to their partners. I choose that option all the time. Read you privacy policy about the opting out. Sometimes they do work. Now when they "insist" on having a phone number, I always use the 10 digit 9's or 5's!!! Never give out your number willingly to companies unless you want them to have it.
Yes I have signed up SEVERAL times on the do not call list but the telemarketers keep calling. Although it may be "illegal" to keep calling, that doesn't stop them. Their call to me was unwanted so why do I have to be polite?? I just ask them to hold on for a second, them put the phone down until I hear the dial tone then hang up my phone.
Do not call lists do not work…I continually sign up for do not call lists and they are routinely ignored. I've filed complaints..with the State of Pennsylvania with phone numbers and people..the phone numbers "don't exist"..I've ignored them and said no no no continually..but nothing seems to work..Any other suggestions????
I have registered all of my phones on the Do Not Call Registry. In spite of scores of complaints I've made to the FTC, the calls have only increased...even from the same chronic offenders. Just another government program that doesn't work. But I must say, I have enjoyed stringing some of them along to waste their time...especially the Indian scam artists attempting to allow them access to my computer. They are owed no modicum of civility.
If you want the formal legal approach, you write a letter to the CEO of that company (certified, returned signature letter) telling them you want your name and any phone number connected with your name and/or address....past, present, and future....immediately deleted from their call lists, as you do not want a call from their company for any reason, past, present, or future. And you MUST stipulate in the letter, that they have 30 business days once the letter is received, to comply with your requests, otherwise any call made after that will result in a legal response (usually small claims court...you can ask for up to $5,000 in "damages" for harassment, wasting your time, refusing to follow the Do Not Call Registry rules, and not following your reqest
Once they have received the letter, they have 30 business days to comply. After that, you can file in small claims court.
And you will need proof on all of this, as well as complete paperwork.
Repeated phone calls from the same telemarketers. They have been told repeatedly we are registered with the National Do Not Call Registry does not stop them. I've submitted the calls every time they come in. The government needs to take a firmer stand with the repeated offenders. Fine them with high enough fines it makes it unfeasible for the calls to continue. Hit them in the pocketbook...it is the ONLY way to stop them. The government should set up an on=line site where it is simple to sign up for class action suits against these companies. It is ridiculous. CKR
Another way to get them to stop, is to take up THEIR time! Get their number and call THEM back and just put the phone down and walk away. Do this several times a day until their number is blocked or they stop calling you.
There are SO many options......depending on if you want to harass them back or just get rid of them period.
The BEST option so far, was what my sister did.......air horn into the phone! LMAO
