Why didn't the young man's parent take $5.00 to the store and explain the health problems. The store would have probably dropped the charges and then the parents could have seem about their child.

Well I don't know about Virginia but in NC mental health is impossible to get unless you have insurance of some kind. Can't get medicaid if you're over 18 b/c the Governor didn't expand medicaid, so you're screwed. There is no way to access mental health here!

If he has a mental illness, Why the F is he out alone in the streets to do dumb S? The family let him roam the streets hoping something like this would happen.... They should of had him on meds and monitored him when he was outside. puff puff pass was the only meds he took.

Did this caring family come to the jail to see his declining condition and seek help, or did the just ignore him, happy that he was in there and they didn't have to deal with him. That is the main issue

Really!! How about answers as to why the young man was in jail for 4 months because he shoplifted 5$ worth of items. That is completely unheard of and unjustified.
