Tips to get rid of telemarketers from former phone marketer

I made it simple. I got rid of all the phones. Thanks Telemarketers, I now save money, less hassle and how now quiet. Phone was not needed after all.

These people are scum. I tell them not to call. They continue to call. The Do Not Call List is useless. I report these telemarketers and nothing happens.
They should disband that section of the FCC and fire them all because they do nothing anyway and the telemarketers know it.

I just talk about the pizza and what I want on it. They finally hang up Don't let them get a word in.

Most of the calls I get are recorded messages and you wouldn't be talking to a live person, so all this advice is bologna. I've been on federal Do Not Call list since it began and it doesn't stop these calls. I have caller ID so often pick up receiver & then immediately hang up. So darn disgusting and intrusion of my time!!

I was a telemarketer, even had my company call me, she kind of freaked when I started givine her the script.
Sometimes a marketer will accidently hit the wrong button and put you back in in the list, be nice the first time, but if you get called back, ask for their supervisor and tell that person to put you on the DNC list.

I went to the do not call regestry site. When I put my number down It told me my number was wrong. Must be a government run agency. The site is not working properly. I hope it's not tax payer funded.

Great advice for such an annoying phone call!

I have called ID, if I don't recognize the number I just don't pick it up. and if I am not paying attention and do answer the phone I merely hang up. Yeah I know this article says they keep you on the list but does not mean I have to answer or listen to them. Ps Never say the word "yes" when talking to a telemarketer, as in Is this Bill? Yes this is Bill. either just hang up or say this is Bill, they can edits the call recording and have you agreeing to all kinds of stuff with you saying Yes to each question from that recording.

The National Do Not Call Registry works just fine, but not instantly.
Telemarketers receive that registry monthly, and are required to update their list from it, but it'll take up to 31 days from when you register for this to take effect.
After you register, simply tell callers that you are now on the do-not-call list and they are to remove your number from their list. Then hang up.

Note: Scammers have been making phone calls claiming to represent the National Do Not Call Registry. The calls claim to provide an opportunity to sign up for the Registry. These calls are not coming from the Registry or the Federal Trade Commission, and you should not respond to these calls.

No one else but you can add your number to the list.

Even if your number is registered, some organizations may still call you, such as charities, political organizations, debt collectors, and telephone surveyors.

I believe the only way to stop it is to waste the telemarkerters time. Put them on speaker phone and have lunch! Keep telling them your computer is just starting up, or you are looking to get the info they need, just hold on a little longer and you will be happy to help out. Make a game out of it, see how long you can keep them on the phone. If everyone does this everytime, it could not be profitable for them. Maybe it will stop then.

DNC does not work. When you tell them you are on the list, they hang up. The best way to avoid the calls is shut off your answering machine or voice mail. They will just get rings and in a month or so remove your # from the dialer. The auto dialer that is.

I keep them on the phone as long as I can telling them about my grandmother living in Florida and how I used to go visit her, etc., whatever pops in my mind that has nothing to do with the reason they call. It's a numbers game for them and I'm keeping them from making other calls. They don't hang up on me, but pass the call over to their supervisor who does the hangup. I am so OFF their lists!

A telemarketer is NOT going to put you on the National Do Not Call list, as implied by the article. Go to www.donotcall.com and add your number yourself.

The Federal do not call list seems to worthless. I've been getting phone calls from Credit Card Services for OVER 5 years, want to lower my credit card interest rate!! And they keep calling, sometime 4 and 5 times a day. Any suggestions on how to stop this?? And yes, they have been reported to the do not call list.

YEA RIGHT WHAT A JOKE AND THE DO NOT CALL LIST IS THE BIGGEST SCAM OF THEM ALL TRY SAYING NO 3X TO RACHAEL FROM CREDIT CARD SERVICES SEE WHAT THAT GETS YOU THESE SCUMBAGS FROM CREDIT CARD SERVICES CALL EVERY PHONE LINE I HAVE NO LESS THEN 5X A DAY ALL DAY LONG 7 DAYS A WEEK IT NEVER EVER STOPS I BEEN ON THE DO NOT CALL LIST FOR 3 YEARS AND I HAVE COMPLAINED TO THEM DOZENS OF TIMES SEEMS NO ONE CAN STOP THESE COCKROACHES FROM HARRASING PEOPLE ALL DAY LONG WITH THEIR CREDIT CARD SERVICES SCAM MAYBE IF SOMEONE GETS A HOLD OF ONE OF THESE MAGGOTTS AND BLOWS THEIR HEAD OFF THEY WILL GET THE MESSAGE TO STOP IT!!!

I am on the do not call list and nothing works. The caller id lists phony numbers so you can't complain to do not call.gov. It's just a shame that nobody in government can stop this nonsense.

Nothing useful in this 'Report'

I have a friend who was getting calls repeatedly at dinnertime. He'd let them give their pitch as he continued eating. Just when they thought they had a sale, he'd ask them, "Do you take food stamps?"

I keep my old lifeguard whistle by the phone. Once though, a guy thought that was so hilarious, he called me back & put it on speaker phone for his co-workers.
